probably i should read more of these now. So it was a little less fun and escapist than i expected, but very good and insightful, and funny. the drawings are simple (seemingly) but convey a full range of emotions and experience. i do wish he had toned down the "boys hate girls" theme that came and went throughout, but otherwise this was great. i didn't remember any comics about parenting, but those certainly landed now since our guy is the same age as calvin, and in some ways just as willful and energetic. both in the words that are often used and also in the stories about parenting a wild and creative child. much more imaginative and also grown up than i'd remembered. i hadn't read these comics since i was probably in high school and they were different than i remember. the world is trash and i wanted something light and funny to take my mind off it. This was fantastic, just what i needed right now. plus friendship, and you have this nearly perfect collection. Hobbes gets kidnapped by Susie, a slimy girl. He gets attacked by his new two-wheeler bike. In Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons, Calvin suffers a host of hardships. He has an exceptional gift to capture both childhood and parenthood so perfectly.
